Of course, we’re all about the biggest womenswear trends, but accessories are just as important; and now it’s time to shine some light on the finishing touches that make an ensemble exceptional. So what are the hottest accessories trends from the most recent Fall runways? Here’s a breakdown of what to get and what to add to your wardrobe:
1. Ear Statements
Gone are the days when it’s all about the bangles, the belts, or the statement neckpieces. For Fall 2015, it’s all about statement earrings—regardless if they come in pairs or just a single piece. The runways are filled with eye-catching ear jewelry, from the eccentric collection of Givenchy, the always glamorous Gucci, and even the feminine sporty pieces from Tibi.
2. Classic Pearls
Sticking with jewelry, this favorite classic is now being spun into several accents and injected into Fall ensembles for a more sophisticated, somewhat vintage, touch. Givenchy was the leader in utilizing pearls and making it a headliner of an accessory, even going so far as using it as facial jewelry. Balenciaga also put its own spin to it, fusing some needed edge with a pearl’s innate elegance.
3. One Fur All
Fur has always been a staple for Fall/Winter collections, but it’s now taking things a few levels up as it’s being used as a whole lot more than just another fur coat. If a (faux) fur coat is too much of a commitment, then a fur stole might be a better alternative. Michael Kors, Dries Van Noten, and Tod’s have the most exemplary styled outfits with fur stoles. But that’s not all for fur because the real breakout fur accessories were the fur shoes. They can be seen worn to match the collections from Fendi, Gucci, and Maison Margiela, to name but a few. And to complete the fur trifecta, there were also fur bags from brands such as Proenza Schouler and Lanvin.
4. Pin It
Brooches were also very widely adorned in this season’s runway collections. With these accents, you can now accessorize even the clothing itself. Famed labels such as Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Chanel, among many other brands, sported this trend with their own creative twist.
5. Sexy Thigh-Highs
The season’s killer shoe trend is back and it’s sexier and sleeker than ever. Thigh-high boots are the perfect shoes to pull off that fashion-forward vibe, with just the right amount of sex appeal. Brands such as Christian Dior, Edun, Marc Jacobs, and Versace showcased stunning designs of these tall beauties.
6. Oversized Bags
There’s always a new must-have “it” bag design every season. For Fall, it’s all about going overboard with oversized bags—whether it’s a handbag, a clutch, a carryall tote, shoulder bag/crossbody, or even a backpack. Calvin Klein, Chanel, and Céline are among the labels with the hottest larger-than-life bags as seen on the runway.
