The latest Fall/Winter 2015-16 Milan Fashion Week felt a bit like Christmas. Not only was it full of pleasant surprises, but it also contained a healthy dose of typical Italian festive charm (Dolce & Gabbana, we’re looking at you!) and came with an explosion of color, texture and creativity, making us regret Fashion Week doesn’t come around every month.

Our Fall/Winter wardrobes will be an ode to sensuality and femininity according to Italy’s finest designers, and here are 5 of the most coveted trends fashionistas will be sporting come the next cold season, according to Milan fashion shows.

1. Cozy Duvets

For those of you who want a break from the evergreen fur coat, some of our favorite designers came with an equally appealing but more youthful-looking solution that will keep you just as warm: the puffa coat. Fendi had it, Ermanno Scervino and Moschino had it, now it’s your turn. The oversized puffy coat is all the rage next winter and the choice of color is totally up to you!

2. Punchy Florals

Eye-catching flowery prints may not be your first choice for a rainy fall or a snowy winter’s day, yet designers like Dolce & Gabbana (whose collection had a leitmotif of passionate red roses), Roberto Cavalli (who preferred autumn blooms), and Gucci’s brand new creative director Alessandro Michele (who went for romantic pastel florals), all want you to blossom during the next chilly season.

3. The Fairy Tale Cape

There is nothing D’Artagnan-esque about the new cape. It is sexy, über-feminine, and looks simply stunning worn with over-the-knee boots, as seen at Versace. Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo and Alberta Ferretti also embraced this chic trend and, if yours is a ladylike style, this is an absolute must-have next season.

4. The New Fur

If you thought for one moment that fur was passé, think again and expect to be surprised by next season’s original ideas. The novelty is the fur dress (yes, you read that right) seen at Fendi and Marni. Otherwise, catwalks were flooded with coats (Dsquared2 beautifully mixed fur with ethnic motifs, Fendi used patchwork and contrasting colors), and fur accessories that will allow you to defy the cold in the most elegant way.

5. Tough Leather

Anyone can instantly turn into an Alpha woman once she slips into a leather dress or pant suit. It’s simple: leather is powerful and sexy but never frivolous, and iconic Italian brands Trussardi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod’s and Bottega Veneta are proof that this fabric is a key factor in modern power dressing. Just go with the cut that flatters you the most.
