Compared to other Fashion Weeks in the other fashion capitals of the world, it may be safe to say that this season, Fashion Week in Paris took the title for the most dramatic of them all. But then again, it shouldn’t come as a surprise in the city that’s home to some of the most revered fashion houses in the industry.

During the presentation of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection for Valentino, many thought that the highlight of the show was going to be on the pieces (as they should be), which evoked a rather bohemian vibe infused with timeless elegance. But lo and behold, out of nowhere, Ben Stiller stepped out onto the runway alongside Owen Wilson and closed off the show as their “Zoolander” counterparts, Derek Zoolander and Hansel.

Videos shared on social media channels showed the duo strut their stuff on the runway as their “really, really good looking” Zoolander characters, as the crowd around them went wild. This Valentino finale alone managed to conquer social media as it happened, taking the world of fashion and entertainment by storm. It was truly a treat seeing a fashion house giant such as Valentino poking fun at itself and ending on a very humorous note after such a seriously exquisite show. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson’s surprise appearance was the perfect counterbalance to the almost expressionless and somber mood of the week’s runway shows, and it definitely worked well both in the favor of Valentino and for the upcoming Zoolander 2 film.

While the Zoolander antics captured and stole the attention of the audience, including Anna Wintour herself, this is not to say that the Valentino collection itself wasn’t a success. Critics were also set abuzz with the mesmerizing showcase of romantic vintage influences and timeless beauty that’s akin to the signature aesthetic which the house of Valentino is known for. Without a doubt, Valentino’s latest fashion show in Paris was one for the books and will undoubtedly set off a trend of breaking down the stereotypical notions within the chaotic world of fashion.
